State Employee uses Government Email to Promote Walker Recall
[MADISON, WI]- Republican Party of Wisconsin Communications Director Ben Sparks issued the following statement regarding the recent political activism of a government employee found to be using state resources to send political documents pertaining to the recall of Governor Walker. This incident was brought to the RPW’s attention by a concerned citizen through the Recall Integrity Center, a website specifically designed to ensure no foul play or suspicious behavior occurs during the signature gathering process:
"As Wisconsin Democrats and their special interests continue their political games in a desperate effort to recall Governor Walker, union members affiliated with this recall effort have resorted to using state resources to promote their activist agenda. This act is in direct violation of Wisconsin's Public Purpose doctrine, which prohibits the use of government resources for a non-public purpose such as campaign activity.
"Wisconsin voters are ready for their government to work for them, not for the job killing liberal agenda that created Wisconsin's budget mess in the first place. While government union workers continue their political activism on the clock, Wisconsin taxpayers are not interested in footing the bill for these liberal special interests who have clearly shown they're more interested in scoring political points rather than getting Wisconsin back on track."
