Washington Insider Russ Feingold’s Troubling Record on Taxes
Feingold consistently worked to raise taxes on middle-class families
[Madison, Wis.] – On Tax Day 2015, voters should be reminded of Washington Insider Russ Feingold’s reckless tax-and-spend agenda. Since 1993, Feingold voted at least 278 times in favor of higher taxes on hard-working American families. He consistently supported legislation that expanded the size of the federal government and pushed our nation further into debt – and even voted against measures that would prevent deficit spending. As a proven Washington insider, Russ Feingold is clearly on the wrong side of taxpayers.
Russ Feingold’s Record of Failure
- In 1993 and 2010, Feingold voted for the largest tax increase in history.
- Russ Feingold voted for President Obama’s “Stimulus” Bill, which included nearly $800 billion in spending. He claimed the legislation would create millions of jobs in the first year – yet Wisconsin’s unemployment rate increased during that time.
- Feingold acted as the deciding vote on increasing the debt ceiling by nearly $2 trillion.
- Feingold called a Balanced Budget Amendment a “lousy” idea, and voted against the legislation four times.
“Russ Feingold is consistently on the wrong side of taxpayers, and voters should be alarmed by his clear disregard for hard-working American families,” said Joe Fadness, Executive Director of the Republican Party of Wisconsin. “With nearly 300 votes in favor of higher taxes, Feingold continually demonstrates that his radical tax-and-spend agenda is too extreme for the U.S. Senate.”
