After Waiting Months to Act, Evers Owns DWD Dysfunction

[Madison, WI] – After failing to solve the massive unemployment-claim backlogs at the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) for months, Governor Evers has finally relented. Evers has made countless excuses for the delays, but finally admitted he owns the problem today when he fired Secretary Frostman. The Republican Party of Wisconsin released the following statement from Chairman Andrew Hitt:

“Wisconsinites in need are suffering and have been unable to make ends meet for months because of failures from Governor Evers’ DWD. In March, Evers said ‘I don’t want people to overreact here — this is something we can solve.’ He has since blamed everything from computer systems to partisan politics to the Wisconsin Legislature, but today he forces out his DWD Secretary.”

“After months of failing to act, Tony Evers’ actions today are an admission that he owns the dysfunction at DWD. Wisconsinites have been starving for help — what took him so long?”
