[Madison, WI] – As Wisconsin stands to again be a pivotal state in the 2020 Presidential election, Chairman Brad Courtney has announced Mark Jefferson will return to the post of Executive Director of the Republican Party of Wisconsin.
“Wisconsin voters could very well decide the next presidential election, and the RPW is committed to putting together a top-notch operation to ensure President Trump again carries the state,” Courtney said. “At the same time, we need to keep our majorities in the congressional delegation and both houses of the legislature. With his extensive background at the state and national level, nobody is more qualified to lead the RPW in the coming cycle than Mark, and we’re fortunate to have him back.”
Jefferson previously served as RPW Executive Director from 2007 to 2011, overseeing Wisconsin Republicans’ most successful cycle in over 70 years in 2010, as voters selected Scott Walker Governor, sent Ron Johnson to the US Senate, picked up two congressional seats and flipped both houses of the legislature. Jefferson led the RPW through the height of the Act 10 protests at the capitol before joining former RPW Chairman Reince Priebus at the Republican National Committee. Jefferson most recently worked at the RNC as a Regional Political Director and Director of Majority Retention.
“Wisconsin Republicans have had extraordinary success and I’m looking forward to again working directly with the people who have made it possible,” Jefferson said. “We will be more organized on the ground than ever as we work to re-elect President Trump and lay the foundation for taking back the Governor’s office.”
“Mark is the right person to serve as the chief executive of the state party at this critical time,” said Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI), who has helped lead the Party’s continuing post-2018 election analysis. “He has strong relationships with local leaders as well as our state’s elected leaders, and a keen understanding of the national environment which will help ensure we’re all moving in the same direction. Our top priority will be to hear, train and empower the grassroots of this state as we work to keep Wisconsin red in 2020.”
“Empowering grassroots will be key to restoring our success in Wisconsin,” said RPW Vice-Chair Andrew Hitt. “I look forward to working with Mark Jefferson we all work together to build on our successes here in Wisconsin.”
