Evers Budget Address & Biden Wisconsin Visit

Gov. Tony Evers’ Budget Address

  • While Wisconsin businesses are still reeling from the impact of the pandemic, we already know that Governor Evers plans to include a sales tax increase in his proposed budget.
    • Evers has broken his 2018 campaign promise that he was “planning to raise no taxes.”
    • Businesses suffered enough under Governor Evers’ costly lockdowns, yet the governor is trying to hit them even harder.
  • Governor Evers also plans to propose legalizing recreational marijuana.
    • While Wisconsin businesses are still struggling and too many kids still aren’t in school, legalizing marijuana shouldn’t be the governor’s priority.
  • Despite the fact that everything the Evers Administration has touched during the coronavirus pandemic has turned dumpster fire, Governor Evers wants more money to spend on new programs. Meanwhile:
    • Wisconsin’s vaccine distribution is just now catching up to other states after Governor Evers botched the rollout.
    • The DWD unemployment call center is still a disaster.
  • Governor Evers has still yet to lead the charge on reopening schools.
    • As a former Superintendent of Public Instruction, Governor Evers should be leading the charge to put kids first and reopen schools.
      • The science says clearly that schools can reopen safely, so it’s clear that the Democrats only want to “follow the science” when it fits their narrative.
      • Coincidentally, Governor Evers has received over $150,000 in campaign donations from Wisconsin teachers unions (WEAC) since 2018.
    • Virtual learning is hurting students academically, socially, and emotionally. It’s clear that Wisconsin kids need to be back in school in-person.
    • The CDC has issued guidance on how to reopen schools safely.
      • The CDC Director has also said that “there is more spread that is happening in the community when schools are not open than when schools are open,” and vaccinating teachers is not a “prerequisite” to reopening schools.”
    • Even other Democrat governors have called on schools to reopen in their states.

Joe Biden Visits Wisconsin

  • Joe Biden’s visit comes on the heels of countless broken promises to Wisconsinites.
    • Joe Biden’s calls for unity are disingenuous. His 40+ executive orders, actions, and memorandums show he has no interest in working across the aisle.
  • The Biden administration refuses to follow the scientific consensus and push to reopen schools.
    • The Biden administration is shamefully refusing to stand up to Democrat special interest groups and protect the interests of America’s children.
  • Biden’s team has shown little concern for the hardworking Americans who will be out of work because of his agenda.
    • Halting the Keystone XL Pipeline will eliminate 11,000 jobs, including 8,000 union jobs. Workers across the country are already being impacted by the canceled pipeline project.
      • This includes hundreds of Wisconsin blue collar jobs.
    • Millions more energy sector jobs are threatened by Biden’s radical climate agenda, including nearly a million jobs that will be eliminated if Biden succeeds in implementing his proposed ban on new oil and gas leasing on federal land.
    • Economists estimate rejoining the Paris Climate Agreement will cost the U.S. economy millions of jobs over the next decade.
  • Biden’s agenda is a continued threat to workers and small businesses who have already been devastated by the pandemic.
      • Biden has vowed to push for standalone legislation for a federal nationwide wage mandate.
      • An analysis by the Congressional Budget Office would cost 1.4 million jobs and increase the deficit by $54 billion over 10 years.
