MADISON, Wis — Either Tammy Baldwin thinks the world is three days old, or she is trying to hide her long record of associating with the Hamas-linked organization that is the Council on American-Islamic Relations from voters.
In a comment to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Baldwin said the antisemitic remarks of CAIR co-founder and executive director Nihad Awad “have led to me completely losing faith in the organization and its work.”
By her own admission, Baldwin only lost faith in CAIR as of three days ago.
This begs the question: why did it take Baldwin so long to denounce CAIR when its unscrupulous history has been a matter of public record for years?
In 2007, FBI Special Agent Lara Burns testified under oath in the Holy Land Foundation terrorism trial that CAIR was a front group for Hamas. Special Agent Burns’ testimony was later referenced during a Homeland Security hearing on Capitol Hill in 2016. That did not stop Baldwin from publishing her infamous letter praising CAIR two years later.
To make matters worse, Baldwin signed the CAIR letter five years after the Department of Justice’s report directly linked the organization’s leadership to Hamas, and more than a decade after federal prosecutors listed the CAIR as an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation trial.
When CAIR responded to the October 7th Hamas attacks by slandering Israel as an “apartheid state” and preemptively condemning any possible Israeli response to the attacks, Baldwin refused to criticize or back away from the organization.
Only once CAIR’s executive director and co-founder Nihad Awad faced backlash for praising the October 7th attacks, and the White House removed CAIR from its national antisemitism strategy, did Tammy Baldwin finally lose faith in CAIR.
Like Homer Simpson slowly vanishing into the foliage, Tammy Baldwin desperately hopes to walk away from her longtime partnership with CAIR unnoticed. Wisconsin voters see right through her hypocrisy and straight to her careless disregard for national security.
“Try as she may, Tammy Baldwin cannot deny her long history of praising CAIR. Wisconsinites deserve a Senator who does not write letters praising known antisemites and terrorist sympathizers.” —WisGOP Spokesperson Matt Fisher
