[Madison, WI] – The Republican Party of Wisconsin released the following statement from Chairman Andrew Hitt commemorating Juneteenth:
“Today, we join the nation in commemorating Juneteenth as we celebrate the end of slavery in the United States and commitment to the American promise that all men are created equal.
“From President Abraham Lincoln to our great civil rights leaders, the Republican Party has a proud history of ensuring that all Americans are afforded our God-given liberties of freedom and opportunity. On this Juneteenth, we reflect on the evils of slavery and honor the courageous men and women who worked to deliver equal rights for all.
“Last year, the Republican Party of Wisconsin opened the first office of its kind in the Bronzeville neighborhood of Milwaukee. We will continue our efforts to engage with the Black community, participate in open and honest dialogue and deliver policies that uplift all Americans.”
