Teigen v. Wisconsin Elections Commission July 20, 2022 In a victory for election integrity, the Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled in Teigen v. WEC that ballot drop boxes are illegal in Wisconsin. On ballot harvesting, the Court said, “an absentee ballot must be returned by mail or the voter must personally deliver it to the municipal clerk at the clerk’s office or a designated alternate site.” This comes after the WisGOP joined the RNC and NRSC in an amicus brief asking the court to rule against ballot drop boxes and ballot harvesting. Democrats have long abused the practice of ballot harvesting, which undermines voter confidence by interfering with the appropriate chain of custody of ballots. Now, they’ll be forced into a fair fight that holds them accountable for their record. Democrats have already attempted to spin this ruling, calling it a “slap in the face to democracy itself” – but telling people to follow our election laws isn’t controversial. The Republican Party of Wisconsin remains focused on election integrity to ensure that all Wisconsinites can have confidence in the results of our elections.
